Marciac Jazz Festival, France

Looking ahead to Summer 2026. (2.5-minute read)

From Marciac Jazz Festival to the Tour de France, this sleepy corner of deep South-West France comes alive in July and August each year. One of the top international events in the region, the Marciac Jazz Festival, takes place at the end of July and beginning of August. Marciac jazz is a vibrant musical celebration that draws tourists from all over France – and further afield.

With its relaxed vibe and top-drawer musicians, the Marciac Jazz Festival brings in an influx of visitors and music-lovers to the rural western reaches of Occitanie.  Occitanie is a large area, which stretches from the Mediterranean to the Gers and northwestern part of the Hautes-Pyrénées. Already a glorious part of South-West France, Marciac weeks add creative energy to the bucolic setting of rolling hills, valleys and their lovely towns and villages.

The organisation of the 48th jazz festival is advancing. It might be only December, and the focus is on Christmas holidays, but the festival has started releasing tickets for next summer. A major star announced for next year is Sting, with ticket bookings now open for his show on 20th July 2026. Having been at one of his previous performances at Marciac, the author of this blog can attest to it being a great night.

The annual jazz festival attracts major talents from the jazz world. Previous performers have included Gregory Porter, Norah Jones, Dizzy Gillespie and Oscar Peterson.

Each year, internationally celebrated artists from broader genres often make appearances. As well as Sting, Nile Rogers, and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame are among the musicians who have lit up the Marciac Jazz Festival stage in recent years.

Artists performing in 2025 at Marciac Jazz Festival included Herbie Hancock, Robert Plant, Santana and Ben Harper.

While these big-ticket artists attract a large crowd, Marciac is not just about famous musicians. The Marciac Jazz Festival offers a platform for all sorts of artists and emerging talent.

Marciac venues

While the big tent (Le Chapiteau) hosts the major concerts; the large square in Marciac transforms into a musical showcase for the festival weeks. There is also a permanent concert hall in Marciac, called L’Astrada. Other impromptu concerts take place around the town and in eateries where visitors can enjoy traditional southwestern France’s gastronomy and wine.

Marciac itself is an attractive bastide town built in the late 13th century. Back then, bastides were the new towns of their era. Now, what was once new is a lovely, charming town of weathered honey-coloured stone and traditional local architecture.

From personal experience to secure tickets and avoid disappointment, you need to be quick and reserve tickets early.

Our home, Peyroulat, offers some summertime accommodation and we are well-located for the festival. We are about 25 minutes by car from Marciac via Maubourguet.  Please get in touch to check availability.
